Writing 09: Describing a local dish.



One of the most famous Spanish dishes is the paella.  Paella consists on rice cooked with vegetables and meat or seafood, and sometimes both of them! It was first cooked by people in Valencia between the XV and XVI century by farmers who needed a dish easy to coo and made with ingredients that they could find in their garden. Since then, the dish has evolved and now you can find it in many bars and restaurants and you can find it in the menu or as a tapa. Many families also visit other family members and cook paella, especially on Sundays.

To cook paella, you need the following ingredients:
- Rice.
- Vegetables (for example: pepper, onion and carrot)
- Pork.
- Seafood.

First, you cook the pork, you have to fry it. Meanwhile, you cut the vegetables into small pieces. After that, you add them and you fry the vegetables and the pork. Next, you add water to the pan. When it boils, you add the rice and, if you like, saffron and some pepper. Afert that, you add the seafood. If you put a lid on it and let it cook gently, it must be ready in about 30 minutes.

This dish is very typical and it's so popular, but the most famous paella is the one they make in Valencia. So, if you want to try an aunthentic paella, try the one they make in Valencia!
